Because I love this meme, and it's resurfacing!

in character.
◢ ask any of my characters (listed or not! ) a question. ask them anything you want, regardless of knowing their canon (or even if you don't RP!)
◢ feel free to ask them as your own character, if you want. either way, your question might be returned with one of their own, if they feel so inclined.
◢ it's totally encouraged for you to tag with your own character.

Aliunde: A multi-fandom RP opening January twelth!

Jan. 7th, 2010 | 07:36 pm
posted by: [info]aliunde_mods in [info]rpg_ads

Introduction. A new world with a new life.

Before you even open your eyes, the stale air and the clean smell catches your attention. You wake up on a hospital bed. Just as you do, a doctor walks in the room. He hands you clean clothes and a card, but of course, that answers none of your confusion. As your eyes wander the room, the doctor simply says, "Aliunde". This probably doesn't answer anything more from before. You notice that the room you are in is entirely white, excluding the computer screens and some weird, platform-like machine.

Why have you been brought here, you may ask? That's a good question. There must have been something that you wanted to get away from. Why else would you be here? At least, that is what the doctor claims.

With a small 'beep', an image appears on one of the walls. No, it's not an image, it's outside. A city just like any other city you would see in an urban area. Skyscrapers block you from seeing further than a few dozen miles. You discover that this city is, in fact, quite large. It's your new home, whether you like it or not. The year is 2256, and you are no longer on Earth. Aliunde is a different planet. One might want to say it is new, but the correct statement is that it's a reborn planet.

I'm sure you're confused about all of this. Don't worry. You'll be here for a while so you have time to learn.
Story & Setting. For centuries, Earth and other discovered alien planets had been facing many problems caused by its inhabitants. With conflicts such as overpopulation and resources running dry, scientists were presented with the idea of finding another place that others could live. It took an extreme amount of time, but finally they were able to create a device that launched a process of terraforming through its environment, making the planet hospitable to humanoids alike.

They found a deserted planet, and launched the device. Unfortunately, the planet was not stable. Seasons passed within days, and natural disasters occurred daily. The planet was in a rapidly repeating cycle. Organisms on the planet would die and come back to life, their life span being divided exponentially. Everything was repeating nonstop. Still, some scientists remained determined to make this work. A few went down to work on the device implanted in the surface. After working non-stop, they discovered that they made some progress. The device was able to keep the environment stable in about a 50 mile radius.

Finally, they achieved some success. Adequate for now, they built a city in the center of the stable area and built a large wall around the perimeter, to protect the inhabitants.

The year being 2256, the technology is very advanced. Most devices are able to be turned on simply with a verbal command. Teleporters can be used to travel, but some may prefer to just walk. Though, the teleporters have their limits. Weapons can only be accessed with permission.

A New Naruto/Original Character RP

Jan. 7th, 2010 | 01:31 pm
posted by: [info]theblackraven in [info]rpg_ads

Welcome to
Konoha Resort Village! We hope you enjoy your stay…

This is a slice-of-life type of RP, where the Naruto characters are everyday people living in modern day Japan. Players are encouraged to interact with each other regardless of what the character's manga affiliation is (Though you'll notice a lot of characters creatively follow the manga). While there will be overall plots (a murder for example!), this RP is very much character driven and will allow you to explore the character however you like. We do allow original characters as well as characters that are deceased!

This RP is just starting up! Opens January 8th! There are still a lot of characters up for grabs! We' d love to see a Karin, Deidara, Hidan, Sakura, Tsunade, Rock Lee, Kiba, Hinata, Ino, Asuma, Shikimaru, and the ever elusive Guy! If you have any questions, please e-mail us at konoha.onsen.mods@gmail.com or check out the Community!

State of the Goat 2009

Jan. 7th, 2010 | 01:10 pm
posted by: [info]theljstaff in [info]news

It's been a momentous 12 months here at LiveJournal. We crossed a capital T at Ten years young. And, like most precocious pubescents, we celebrated turning double digits by publishing our first book! Needless to say, we've experienced some major changes, both inside and out. Before we recap, we'd like to thank you for bearing with us as we've struggled through ungainly growth spurts, identity pangs, and, yes, the occasional blemish. We hope you'll continue to stand by us: We're gaining wisdom with maturity.

Stuff you liked

  • Back in February, we placed a call for entries for our ten-year anniversary anthology in [info]lj_turns10. In December (less than a year later!), we officially announced the publication of Live Journal: The First Decade. Featuring an inspired collection of writing, photographs, and artwork from the pages of LiveJournal history, the book has been selected by Blurb.com as a top staff pick! We are proud to have played host to so much talent over the years, and we thank our contributors for sharing their extraordinary work.
  • We all love quirky surprises, but not when it comes to managing our account settings. This year we streamlined settings into one central account management area. No more pouring through FAQs to figure out how to control privacy settings, modify notifications, adjust mobile settings, or update contact information!
  • Being users ourselves, we realize our own mothers couldn't find us on LiveJournal based on our usernames and userpics alone (*heaves heavy sigh of relief*). But since there are times when we actually want to be found, we created a search tool--Find Your Friends--to help locate people by email address (it's in the Friends drop-down menu).
  • Spam counter-attack: The war against vicious malware and spambots reigns eternal, but we've been making serious inroads to ensure your online security. We've established new protocols, such as requiring email address validations. We've grown more savvy about ferreting out suspicious behavior. We've added features, like whitelisting, to help you protect your communities. Our valiant (i.e., overworked) spam avengers (a/k/a the LiveJournal ops team) are standing on red alert so you can sleep safely at night.
  • After an intensive beta, we launched My Guests at the end of the year, which lets you see who's been hanging around your journal. A number of you have even discovered secret admirers (not all of whom are creepy)!
  • Last, but by no means least, we want to thank our volunteers for providing invaluable support and feedback. Their Herculean efforts enable us to answer your questions more efficiently, identify spammers, reduce abuse, and deliver better features (through tireless testing). On behalf of the staff and the larger LiveJournal community, we are truly grateful for their diligence, intelligence, loyalty, and passion.

You got your fix

  • We recently debugged a number of the oustanding issues with the rich text editor so your entries look great regardless of whether you know html. You can read more about text editors here.
  • In response to user demand, we brought back international voice posting. For more info on voice posting, read here.
  • At long last, we revived TxtLJ with Verizon. For more info on TxtLJ, check out the FAQ.

Paid features you enjoyed

  • In December, we introduced My Stats, which provides detailed data on who's been viewing your entries as well as statistics on commenting, RSS requests, friending history, and more. Despite a few early glitches, the response has been extremely favorable.
  • This year, we launched and improved Notes (i.e., the feature formerly known as Alias), which lets you add private comments on friends and commenters (it's in the Profile drop-down menu). This way you won't be caught red-faced when you strain to remember details about that wonderful LiveJournal friend who sent you a birthday vGift. For more info, read the FAQ.
  • When we first announced View friends pages by date, we thought it would be a quiet, minor enhancement. The rave reaction floored us, which made us all very happy. We gave it a fine tuning in February of 2009, so it's even better!
  • How embarrassing! It appears pingbacks have gone back to the shop for service. We’ll keep you posted. We didn't know just much you liked pingbacks until it went in for service. It's back and, judging by your irritation when it wasn't available, this is good news. FYI, pingbacks send instant notifications (via screened comments) whenever someone links to one of your entries on LiveJournal. For more info, read this entry in [info]paidmembers or check out the FAQ.

Mixed reviews

  • The search is still on. Some of you have reported getting more comprehensive results for keyword searches using the new Yandex search engine and like the ability to search within content categories (like entries or comments). Others have not been satisfied with the relevancy of search results. Please be patient. We're still tweaking this product.
  • This past December, we wanted to try out a new holiday promotion. Given the crap economy, we decided to offer our Paid/Permanent users a stack of $10 coupons to send to Basic/Plus users for paid account upgrades. We hoped you would like it. And some of you did, but many were disappointed that we didn't offer Give More as well. We want to thank you so much for letting us know. Your input will help us plan better in the future. Just FYI, Paid/Permanent users can continue to send out coupons through January 15th. Coupons can be redeemed through January 31, 2010.
  • We were pretty excited about Your Journal Your Money, which allows Paid/Permanent users to earn extra cash by displaying Google ads to Basic/Plus and logged out users. A number of you tried it. Some of you really like it. Others, not so much. (Just FYI, Paid/Permanent users who do not participate in this program will not view ads on journals. Participants will see ads on their own journal, but won't see them on other journals unless they specifically opt in.) For additional details, visit here.
  • We relaunched m.livejournal.com, our mobile app. While it offers a nicer UI and enhanced functionality, some of you think we can do better on load times. Like most of us, it's a work in progress. You can customize your mobile settings here. For more info, please read the FAQ.

Missing Inaction

  • We shudder to bring up the neon purple elephant squatting on our heads, but, yes, we didn't give you those a la carte userpics. We've been making radical improvements to our backend in order to support them. But no excuses. We know you want them. We cringe every time you mention them. We're sorry we dropped the ball on this, and we promise to do our best to get them to you in 2010.

Stumbling points

  • Back in early August, we experienced outages related to a series of DDoS attacks. We are proud to report that we were down a total of one hour over the course of a few days. We thank our heroic ops guys for getting us up sooner and more consistently than any of our less fortunate social networking friends. We apologize for leaving you temporarily stranded.
  • A couple of months back, we offered a free, unrestricted vGift, which induced a snowflake cookie avalanche. This resulted in backed up/delayed notifications, which, in turn, led us to reboot systems, rendering scrapbooks unavailable. It took a while to shovel free. Apologies for the inconvenience. We learned a valuable lesson that should keep us calamity-free in the future (fingers crossed while knocking on wood).
  • That darn Best Buy ad. First off, we're sorry about the audio auto-play (we got it turned off as quickly as possible). While it's true that we'll continue to show this type of ad to accounts that normally see them (never to Paid/Permanent accounts), we'll make sure the sound defaults to off moving forward. We promise to do our very best to keep ads to a minimum on LiveJournal, while keeping a roof over Frank's head.

Full steam ahead!

As we plunge headfirst into the next decade, we want to take a moment to look back and thank all of our employees, both past and present, who have worked so hard to create our unique and magical universe. We couldn't have made it this far without you: Your contributions brighten our path everyday. We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you. Whether you've been around for ten days or ten years, your humor, intelligence, talent, and creativity are what makes this the most vibrant global community on the Internet (the best place on the Web, in our humble opinion). Here's hoping that 2010 will be the greatest year yet! We thank you for joining us as we embark upon another glorious decade of LiveJournal history!

The Clock Is Ticking

Time's Running Out

The Marauders have spent the past two years working
for the Order of the Phoenix, a secret group created to
counter Lord Voldemort and his followers. As the war
reaches its peak, a group of pro-Muggle extremists c-
alling themselves the Mudblood Martyrs begin to target
purebloods - even blood traitors. Every day is another
bloody battle, regardless of surnames and ancestry.

Sanctuary is an intermediate-to-advanced game with an
R rating - not suitable for children (or those of a nervous
disposition!). Our emphasis is on quality of writing - not
quantity - and a happy, tightly-knit community of friends.
We're untrendy and proud of it! Creative, intelligent and
above all, friendly players are needed to help shape our
future. Although we have many canons free, we also have
a thriving original character population.

Hi guys. There's a certain type of icon I'd really like to make, But alas I really struggle with trying to cut and crop the image I want onto somewhere else, So fear the easiest way I've been attempting to do it is by deleting the background out and then doing it that way but it doesn't look particularly tidy when you do so.

I'm using PSP 8 And so far the cropping techniques on there I really haven't learned to use very well at all when I think I've got it I clearly haven't.

I'm hoping to make something similar to this -> http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x247/maxRISA/lj/franchette-yukiko01b.png made by [info]franchette

Of course you won't ever see the Prison Warden or Psychologist, at least not physically. Abducted from your home and transported to Glaxcin Prison without warning or any kind of trial, the entire structure is fully automated--meals are prepared, cells are cleaned, sheets are changed--every function operated by an invisible source or force from outside the prison complex. This, of course, is for yours and the Warden's own protection. We wouldn't want to see anyone getting hurt now would we...?
Of course the Warden will hear your requests for personal items such as clothing or jewelry, but any requests for contraband will be strictly denied. Please remember this is for your own safety and personal growth.

We are here to help turn your life around from a world of crime. To make sure you become the best you can be, a structured civilized citizen. But first you have to admit and come to terms with your criminal past and failings. You are all criminals. The sooner you accept it.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you first arrive you wake up on a cold hard bed with only a thin pillow and a sheet thrown over you for warmth. All around you are steel bars. The only light is a bright overhead that seems to beam down at you, making the grey color scheme even more grim.
Evil Eyes: A Post the Mummy Returns RPG
death is but the doorway to new life – we live today, we shall live again, in many forms shall we return.
After riding home on the dirigible from the Oasis of Ahm Shere after the defeat of the Army of Anubis and Mathayus the Scorpion King, the O'Connell's settled back down in their large mansion back in London. Young Alex O'Connell had continued with his regular schooling terms, Evelyn had decided to take the Bembridge Scholar's offer and became curator of the British Museum, while finally, Rick had decided to enjoy the time off from fighting the undead. It had been approximately three months since the O'Connell's settled down and one fateful evening, Ardeth Bey had walked upon their doorstep once again. It was Rick who had opened the door that evening and much to his dismay, received unfavorable knowledge as the bearer of bad news entered his household. His assumptions were spot on as he told the tale of two powerful amulets known as the Amulets of Karawan that were capable of leading the world to its undoing.
The legend began back in ancient Egypt in the Nineteenth Dynasty, where Pharaoh Seti I requested two powerful amulets to be made by the Egyptian God, Set, in order to ensure not only his own protection, but also his family's and Egypt's as well, while he worked towards restoring Egypt's power from before the Amarna Revolution. The amulets were later created and bestowed upon the pharaoh by a servant of Set. First, the Amulet of Khaldun was presented as a necklace representing the Ka symbol of life force, while finally, the Amulet of Setesh was presented as a Was scepter and possessed the abilities of time travel; Seti I had accepted them. When word spread that amulets from the Gods resided in Egypt, armies began to form in order to conquer the amulets and place them into their own countries possessions. Little did Seti I know that this was all Set's intention. Upon decision, Seti I decided to transport the amulets into a different timeframe of their own choosing, which later resulted in the Year of the Scorpion, 1933. From committing such an action the Amulet of Setesh was no longer capable of staying in one place. Now it was capable of traveling all around the world, never returning to the same place a second time unless it was its country of origin.
Another tale was told as he later spoke of an enemy tribe known as the Djed, who were the living descendants of Imhotep's priests from ancient Egypt. Unknowingly to the Medjai, the chieftain of the Djed was none other than the re-embodiment of Pharaoh Seti I under a new alias and persona. The reincarnated pharaoh had been leading the Djed to Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, which had appeared as it did three thousand years ago due to the Amulet of Setesh's influence. They were on a quest in order to resurrect Imhotep and Anck-su-namun, who were said to have been granted the ability to see the Amulet of Setesh's location by the Egyptian God, Set. This task was not only given to the chieftain, but it was also completed successfully, and as a result of finding the Amulet of Khaldun, it was presented to Anck-su-namun so that she could not be harmed. Covertly, an elder of the Djed had told Imhotep and Anck-su-namun that Seti was currently unaware of their treason and advised them to act as the pharaoh's once faithful courtiers.
As this phenomenon occurred, the O'Connell's had no knowledge that the Amulet of Khaldun had already been located; furthermore, they had left London soon after. With the O'Connell's now on the move and the Djed now after the Amulet of Setesh, this journey has yet to be written, let alone the destination. What becomes of this tale is left up to you as you decide your fate, your side, as well as the fate of the world!
CURRENT CANONS WANTED
Alex O'Connell (Most Wanted)
Alex wasn’t your typical eight year old kid. He liked to spend more time at museums and reading books rather than being at home. Completely unaware of his parent’s adventures in the past and how they met, young Alex put on the Bracelet of Anubis and was kidnapped by a cult that was determined to resurrect Imhotep and was forced to lead them to Ahm Shere. Now that he’s back in his family's hands, Alex spent the past three months returning to his normal life as well as continuing his schooling. But when Ardeth came requesting his family’s assistance, Alex went along with them and when they arrived at Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, Alex disobeyed his mother’s orders of not touching anything and touched a mysterious artifact and fell through a trapdoor! He fell unconscious, and was visited by the Egyptian God, Horus, through this predicament. Horus told him that they had been waiting for him and that he was to become the destroyer of the amulets in order to restore balance. Twelve would be taken from him and on the twelfth day of the twelfth month he would be required to choose. When he had awoken from this predicament, Alex found that he was no longer a child, but an adult that appeared to be in his early twenties. Alex must now learn how to be an adult as well as take part of this expedition willingly or unwillingly. Through all of this, Alex also discovers that while it is great being an adult, it isn’t just fun and games. He also seems to have made friends with the chieftain of the Djed’s wife, Tuya, much to his mother’s displeasure. His child celebrity is Freddie Boath and his adult celebrity is your choice.
